GETTING CAREER SERIOUS;
Research And Preparation.

1983   Soon after making a career
decision in 1981 to be a portrait
specialist, Mike set about
preparing samples to show to a
prominent New York Gallery.
Here he is shown in studio
in 1983 with books, color charts,
research materials, photos of the
subject, a studio mannequin dressed
in subject's costume, life size
compositional studies and cutouts,
all part of the considerable
research and preparation utilized to
create a final compositional design
all done prior to painting the life
size three-quarter length oil on linen
portrait of
Anna Marie Panicola.
The stretched linen canvas primed
white that the oil portrait was
painted on is pictured on the easel
behind the artist.  This photo was
taken
before Mike began to paint
her oil portrait.
