PORTRAIT PROCEDURE, FEES & GUARANTEE:
- Work is done from live sittings and/or from photographic materials in your
choice of oil, acrylic, pastel, pencil or charcoal. In the tradition of the Masters,
Mike considers spending a few hours painting studies of a subject from life to
- be the single most important ingredient in order to provide his best efforts.
- When a subject is available there is simply no substitution for some painting
- time from life.
PORTRAITS BY McVAUGH are usually accomplished by a schedule of steps
similar to the following:
- First a client consultation is arranged. Upon agreement to proceed, a 30%
deposit is collected, and the initial preparation for a portrait is preferably
- scheduled and accomplished at a subject's location.
- Once the initial preparation is accomplished, which usually includes both
- life studies and photographs taken of the subject, Mike returns to the studio
- and, in most cases, is able to complete the portrait without need of any
- additional painting time with a subject.
- Most oil portraits of one subject, up to a half-figure size of approximately
- 30 x 36", are completed and ready for delivery in approximately 2 to 4 months
from the date that Mike first photographs and/or paints the subject from life.
Portraits are completed using Mike's established working method, distinctive
- style, and proven creative talents.
- Schedules and completion dates are as close to promised as humanly
possible.
- Workmanship, permanency of pigments, support and ground are of the
- finest materials available.
- Once a completed portrait is approved, the unpaid balance is usually due
- in full. Fees are made payable to Edwin S. McVaugh, Jr.
